Daybreakers- Looks like my kind of Vampire movie. It has a Blade vibe and a blue filter but it fucking has Willem Dafoe in it... and he is a bad ass and he isn't going to be underused like he was in Spike Lee's Inside Man.

The Crazies as the trailer just looks amazing
NOES- To see if it's good or not. The trailer wasn't half bad but the look is kinda defeating the purpose of the Iconic look that Robert Englund has. The looks is more blank than artistic.
Legion- I never thought I'd want to see a movie about Angels. I was wrong. Looks awesome.
Daybreakers- Looks like my kind of Vampire movie. It has a Blade vibe and a blue filter but it fucking has Willem Dafoe in it... and he is a bad ass and he isn't going to be underused like he was in Spike Lee's Inside Man.
Wolfman- Looks like Hollywood fun at its best. It will make up for the Hollywood ass rape that was Van Helsing. That was some of the worst garbage ever. The Werewolves in Van Helsing made Cursed look like a masterpiece.

What about...what was it...Shark Attack 3? It was a flick where a guy's talking to a girl and out of the blue he says "how about I take you back home and eat your pussy" and then it goes to like a nude/sex scene.
It was like wtf? I know you can't see nudity in the clip below but..well...you do see a little of them in the shower at the end of it...

I did finally see this and I actually did kind of like it...except the ending ruined it for me.
*Spoilers*
It's just...a lot of these type of flicks (Blair Witch, Cloverfield, Open Water which I know doesn't really count but kinda, Quarantine, Rec) seem to have that same sort of 'downbeat/whatever' ending that it just felt routine and weirdly...hollywood like. The whole 'getting possessed' angle just kind of took away from the 'reality' that it was trying to play off. The ending was almost like 'okay folks, relax it's only a movie'...but maybe that's just because I never really got into 'possession' movies. Although I do like some flicks that tackle it like "Exorcist III" but those films had more stuff to them.
I know it's stupid and it's hard to explain...but that's the best I could do to try to explain it.

Well...John Carpenter's The Ward is probably my top pick. Being a big fan of Carpenter, even the quote "lesser movies" of his I still enjoyed watching.
I must admit I am curious of Pirahna 3-D because I still enjoy Alexander Aja as a director, yes I know I can admit I did love the Hills Have Eyes remake and Mirrors didn't bother me too much...except for the last few minutes. But I still enjoy that director's way of making characters look beat to shit...and that cast of Elizabeth Shue, Richard Dreyfus, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd...it makes me even more interested. And the R-rating, considering how the guy uses gore in his flicks...well again I do look forward to that one too.

I thought the movie was entertaining, and I really like how a film made for under 20,000 bucks can make hundreds of millions.
But scary? I didn't think so. For me, this movie had many of the same elements of Blair Witch (camcorder perspective, bickering leads, "bumps in the night", and ending full of screaming, with the final "jolt" payoff). That's not necessarily a bad thing...I really like Blair Witch. I just thought this film played like Blair Witch inside a house...and most of the scares felt manufactured...IMO.
Still, I thought it was well made, and even if I didn't find it scary, I did admire the "craft" of it. Shows what can be done, without zillions of dollars.

Up In The Air
George Clooney stars as Ryan Bingham, a professional downsizer who spends 95% of his life traveling to lay people off at companies without the guts to do it themselves. He loves his life, but a female counterpart met on the road and a younger coworker threatening to replace him with technology cause him to reassess his values.
I'm a big Clooney fan, so I was looking forward to this. For the most part, it delivers. George is ideally cast as the corporate downsizer with the charm to pull off the job. Vera Farmiaga provides a boost as the traveling love interest. Turns out several of the folks losing their jobs in the film actually got laid off in real life and were sought out to appear here. Bogs down a bit about halfway through when Clooney's character must attend his sister's wedding in Podunk, Wisconsin, but picks up with a mild twist or two near the end. Not quite as light and airy as the trailer might lead you to believe, but well worth a viewing.

I remain on the sidelines from a Blu-Ray standpoint. For a number of reasons, I have yet to invest in HDTV, so buying one now would do me no good. If circumstances lead me to go hi-def soon, I'd likely buy one and buy new titles on Blu. I still think Blu-Ray will prove to be a transient format. Timing will determine whether I decide to be late to the Blu-Ray party or early to download (or whatever the next significant step is).

Those are all good beers, Dngl. Even though PBR is kind of cheap, I actually don't mind the taste. PBR and Natty Boh are pretty much on the same level for me. I think it's kind of funny how a lot of "hipsters" drink PBR because it's supposed to be symbolic of a rugged, blue-collar lifestyle and most of them have never done an honest day's work in their lives. Kind of makes me giggle.
Ha ha. That is so true about some folks who drink PBR. They also tend to wear Carhartt clothes with no signs of wear on them other than the occasional stain from a spill of pop or ketchup splatter during a misfortunate trip to the mall food court.

I don't think he'll be able to take a bump now...I really don't. I agree with what Rick said, it would make the most sense to have him work his way into being a special guest referee and then screw Michaels out of the belt, which would also keep the Undertaker's "streak" alive.

I still talk to the Col. quite a bit, so he just left the board. He's busy with film projects from what I understand. I am going to give the NOES remake a try although I'm not real pleased with the trailer. Jackie Earl Haley has been in some good non-genre films (Breaking Away and The Bad News Bears), so I am going to give him a chance with the Freddy Krueger role. Perhaps he will surprise all of us.
John Carpenter's The Ward is at the top of my list of movies to consider seeing at the theater this year. I am interested in seeing what he does with this one and maybe the old Carpenter magic is still there. I haven't given up on the man yet.
Scream 4 might be ok but I'm not excited about it. The first Scream was a good film and covered all of the bases but the sequels declined into mediocrity for me and I lost interest quickly. I'm not saying that I won't see it, it's just not number one on my list.
As for anything else, I'll just have to see how 2010 starts shaping up horror wise.

Hey guys, I've been a listener since 07 but just now joined the forum, Anyway I know you guys have mentioned several times on the show recently that you are short on ideas so I was wondering if you guys would ever consider doing Zombie and Slasher retrospective shows. These would likely both be multipart in depth discussions of the evolution of Zombie and Slasher films and I think it would be great if you guys would focus on those films that don't get mentioned that often. The show could end with you guys discussing the problems you see with the Slasher and Zombie film today. Also I recently bought the Hostel drunken commentary and was enjoying it until it stopped suddenly about 15 minutes into the commentary. I realized that my computer for some reason only downloaded about 15 minutes of it. Is there anyway I could get the whole version of this? Anyway thank you so much for the show you guys rock!

Paranormal Activity: Just shut off the DVD player, and thought I'd offer immediate thoughts...
I thought this was entertaining, but I never found it genuinely frightening. I'm all for suspending disbelief, and hold The Blair Witch Project in high regard (and still find it creepy as hell), so the "camcorder" aspect of it didn't bother me. All the scares in this movie seemed manufactured, although I did think they were cleverly done for the most part. The lead characters began to annoy me a bit with their bickering about halfway through the film. I do like the idea of a movie costing 50 cents and making the kind of money it did. Shows what can be done with imagination, as apposed to James Cameron's limitless funds. This scores a 'B' for me. Not very original, but entertaining enough.
As for the theatrical and original endings: I thought both had about the same impact. The theatrical ending was a little more "Hollywood" I guess. Reminds me of the original/theatrical endings of Fatal Attraction.
If Romero has such a bad rep when it comes to bailing out at the last minute, why the fuck would organizes still book the dude?
Because he doesn't. He is generally a great guest and shows up - as said, he hit a patch of 2-3 cancellations due to filming the same movie. Shawnee Smith pulled out of 4 shows in one month due to filming, and I've seen others do the same. It happens in this business.

i really could care less about a Scream 4 . Scream 3 was a great ending to the series.
The Nightmare On Elm Street remake might be really good. I said this before and I'll say it again Jackie Earle Haley kicked ass in Watchmen. there was one scene in the movie that really got me excited that he can really pull off the Freddy character. but I'm saving judgment until i see the movie.
The Crazies remake looks really interesting the trailer showed some good stuff. i have hope for it.
The Wolfman remake might be good too.
i really don't care if The Ward is good or not at least we get too see a fucking John Carpenter flick in theaters. (well I never have seen a John Carpenter flick in theaters Lol.)

Here's some more...
El Juan/Gutmunchers - Ed and Runk were doing the Bloodtype basement podcast...Ed decided he no longer wanted to do a podcast, but soon after re-started the podcast with El Juan as a co-host instead of Runk. CK and UB commented on their myspace show that they thought the Bloodtype Basement podcast didn't work with El Juan...he apparently got pissed because he quit the board about 10 minutes later over hurt feelings. He came back, along with Jason (xinvitusx) many months later with the username "Gutmunchers" and sort of pretended as though he never left in the first place. After Jason left the 2nd time he too closed out his account for no reason...
Col. Scott W. Perry - Started shit with me over a comment I made about Debbie Rochon in a Fangoria Radio thread...He was trying to impress Debbie with his macho bullshit because she had seen my post and he wanted to be her knight in shining armor. He basically threatened my life and my family and invited other people to come on the board to do the same. He ultimately got a verbal beat down from basically everyone on the message board, including Uncle Bill. He quit the board the very next day after realizing what an idiot he was.
cincycenobite75 - He ended up quitting the board about six weeks ago, a couple of days after the HorrorHound Weekend event in Cincinnati. He was good friends with Mike Knotts and I'm pretty sure he was at the event with him. I'm guessing the reason he quit was because everyone was mentioning how they saw Mike at the convention and were posting photos of him in the thread.
I think a lot of times people gain an emotional attachment to the show, the hosts, and the message board and take things way too serious, resulting in them getting upset and quitting over stupid shit. If you get tired of the board then take a break and stop posting for awhile or forever if you feel like it. I'm not sure what the point is of actually closing down your account and creating one last thread announcing to everyone that you are leaving. To me that just seems like the antics of an attention seeker. Most of the people on the list had quit the board previously and came back as well which further leaves me to believe that.
There's a few people I wish would have stuck around...mainly Shloggs and Alexander as I enjoyed shooting the breeze with them and discussing horror. There's also a few people who don't post much anymore and I wish they would...Most of the other people I could careless about leaving though. There will always be new people who come along to replace the ones who left.

you can get an IR adapter for your ps3 that will allow your remote to work with the ps3.
I got one a few years ago for use with all my electronics and videogames.
it's fantastic. I think it was like $125 bucks back when I got it a few years ago, but it still works perfectly.
And since its software based for programing you can always get online and update the software to have all the info for devices as they get released over the years.. i.e. newwer tv's and things.. just download updates and you can program it to work with them as well now.

Admired the marketing for this one, unfortunately not the film. It just didn't tap into anything that scares me. I've seen alternative endings but whichever they used wouldn't help the rest of the movie for me. I was surprised. I love supernatural based stories and I enjoyed Blair Witch which it was likened to. But this was very uneventful and overall lacked tension.
If you really think about it Freddy vs Jason is only a good movie when you seen it in theathers. I loved in in theaters but when I sat and watched it alone I realized how crappy it was. It seemed way to fast paced and came off more like a comic book, also they made Jason look like a fucking moron in this movie.
I know Jerry the look of Jason was ridiculous, his look so fucking stupid just a complete bland look generic as fuck! Imange if they used the makeup in part 7 wow what a difference it would of made. Oh I forgot it should have been Kane brother but I still enjoy it for what it is, and the freddy doing an elbow drop lol was classic. take car bro.

I'm not going to lie, upconversions are nice, but they aren't the same. I just don't see how you can lie to yourself and believe that dvd are about equal.
Also, you know, even if you are still pressed on maintaining a dvd collection or buying dvds... you can always buy a blu-ray player, and watch your dvd's on the blu-ray player, while still having the option to watch blu-rays available to you.... This is the reason for most people its about the money (which is fine, i mean it is costly to get it crackin' but if you already have an hd tv ... why not scrape some change together and get yourself a blu-ray player!)

Well, the whole idea is kind of comic bookish. Even going in, I didn't expect this movie to be scary. Both franchises had lost their capacity to scare long before this one arrived. As for Jason seeming like a moron, well...he's not exactly known for his smarts. This was more of a fun movie, and one that the fans had been screaming for for quite some time. I had a lot of fun with it and there are still some moments that cause me to chuckle.

Not only that but I've also noticed on Amazon that a lot of their new release blu-rays are $4-5 cheaper then the DVD version. District 9 for example is $17.99 for blu-ray and the 2 disc DVD is $22.99. I bought 'The Hangover' on blu-ray for $15.99 while the DVD on Amazon was $24.99. Shit the new Rocky 1-6 blu-ray set that they just released is only $47.99 where as the old 2007 DVD boxset is still $48.49.

Did you guys ever consider putting a music section on the board, and since Uncle Bill went Blu are you gonna share the free titles you get with him? Keep it creepy as always,

Re: A closer look at the new Freddy Krueger! « Result #86 Today at 12:04pm »
If you really think about it Freddy vs Jason is only a good movie when you seen it in theathers. I loved in in theaters but when I sat and watched it alone I realized how crappy it was. It seemed way to fast paced and came off more like a comic book, also they made Jason look like a fucking moron in this movie.
I've been listening to the new Fear Factory album 'Mechanize'...Doesn't come out until February but it got leaked on the internet 2 months early. If you're a fan of Fear Factory I strongly recommend picking this up because it's by far one of the best albums they've ever put out.
I agree 100% this is the return Of the Mighty Fear Factory, with return of Dino and there new drummer Gene they are bringing back the metal, cheers brother.

with the drummer, The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold.
I was never really a fan of A7X but this is sad to hear.
James Owen Sullivan, the drummer with California band Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead on Monday, according to police. He was 28.
Sullivan was found "unresponsive" in his Huntington Beach home, according to Orange County deputy coroner Mitchell Sigal.
An autopsy has been scheduled to determine cause of death.
A message posted Monday on the band's website confirmed his death.
"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy (The Rev) Sullivan," the statement said.
"Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother."
Sullivan was backup vocalist and drummer for Avenged Sevenfold, a band with a punk-goth sensibility that was voted best new artist at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards.
He provided the high-speed beat behind songs such as Almost Easy and Scream.
He was a founding member of the band, formed in 1999, with guitarist Zacky Vengeance, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, lead singer M. Shadows and bassist Johnny Christ. Sullivan wrote some of the band's tongue-in-cheek songs, such as A Little Piece of Heaven.
Early on, band members were known for their experimentation with drugs and enjoying the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, but played down that image with the commercial success of albums such as 2005's City of Evil and 2007's Avenged Sevenfold.
Reggie: Okay. I see it, I see it all now. What we gotta do is we gotta snag that tall dude and stomp the shit out of him, and we'll find out what the hell is going on up there. Yeah! We lay that sucker out flat and drive a stake right through his Goddamn heart!
Mike: You gotta be shittin' me, man! That mother's STRONG!

Yeah that's what I'm going to do is just buy Dvds until they don't release new movies on Dvd anymore. but I'll always buy older or used Dvds at Mega Media Exchange.
but i always go to Best buy and see what they have in their Horror section. I wish that Media Play and Circuit City was still open.

Re: People Who Have Left the Board and Why!!! « Result #93 Today at 10:28am »
I don't know. Ive always tried to be nice to everyone on this board. Well, except for that Scrote kid. I could not stand him. Its a shame when there are disagreements that get out of hand, making people wanting to leave. I guess stuff like that doesn't bother me much. As for the Shill Your Crap forum, CK I hope you keep it man. While, I agree some people abuse it. Its nice to have for sites like Jdog and I. Not trying to sound arrogant, but it truly does help out our show, since I have no idea how to start a message board myself. I guess in a web forum, people will always come and go. Its how it goes. I wouldn't get worked up about it. You guys are doing a great job!
Dana, if you want to keep printing the mag rather than switch to an e-zine you should consider the following:
1. As has been stated before, lose the presentation binders. Those things aren't cheap nor are they necessary for something you're giving away.
2. Don't print at home. What you're spending on ink cartridges (especially with the amoung of black you have on the pages) is much more than you would spend by printing 11x17 sheets at Kinko's or someplace like that.
3. Print the 'guts' in black and white. The cover/back cover you'll want to keep in color so it'll catch the eye.
4. Sell ad space. You don't have to charge much, just enough to ensure that you'll be able to fund the issue.
I pretty much agree with Joe...
If youre going to do a E zine you might as well just do a website.
In regards to keeping it as a print zine I guess whats going to happen is youregoing to have to ask ppl for $

Carriers. I found this slow and dull. Not enough tension or threat. The infected were far too few and far between and when they did show themselves there wasn't enough happening to make this an entertaining film. Seemed good from the trailer but all the action of the entire film was in it.
