I don't know how many Chicago goons lurk here, but I wanted to let everyone in the area know that on Monday, October 29th there will be a free screening of both Insidious and the original Friday the 13th at the Bensenville Theatre (12 South Center Street Bensenville, IL 60106). The movies will screen at 6pm and 8pm respectively. There is NO CHARGE to get into the movies and concessions will be for sale. The movie is presented by the Bensenville Public Library, but all are welcomed to attend.
I set this up through my job at the library, so I really hope to get as many people to attend as possible. When I approached my boss with the idea I got the eye-roll that you might expect. "You want to show what?" Any support will be VERY much appreciated.
Thanks to CK and UB, for inspiring and encouraging these sorts of events. See everyone there.
Dude I wish they were 35mm prints. They are blurays. But we do have a partnership with the local two-screen theater. We also have a movie license with a decent amount of titles. If i could find someone with a 35mm print i could legally show it, but im not lucky enough to know anyone. Its not ideal, but it allows me to show movies for free in an old school theater.

That's pretty good though. Having the license and access to a theater is half the battle. Hopefully you'll eventually hook up with somebody in Chicago with contacts so you can mix it up between the blu rays and prints.
We are lucky here in that the theater showing Alien in 35mm is programmed by one of those guys who, if it exists, he can find it. Thanks to him, I've seen 35mm prints of Suspiria, Deep Red, Evil Dead (from the office of Sam Raimi), Alligator, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1 and 2 etc. This Friday he's showing a 35mm print of Creepshow.
Good luck and I wish you success with your initiative. I'll probably be in Chicago late June next year, so keep posting here. If you're putting on a movie night when I'm in town, I'll go.

bradtheman: Like all things in life, Deadpit Radio's run had to end at some point. Towards the end, Wes, Aaron, and Steve's hearts weren't in it and that it was time to move on. For what it's worth, I like to thank the threesome for inspiring me to do commentaries.

bradtheman: That and the horror genre was going down the tubes when Aaron and Wes signed off. It still is with the Child's Play remake and I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu as examples.

newt138: No mainstream horror was going down the tubes. There was plenty of good mainstream horror. But as fat fuck Wes told many people "Unless we get sent a copy for free I Aint reviewing it."

psychostillvicious: Greetings one and all. Don't know if anyone remembers me, but whatever. I was a poster here many moons ago. God I loved Deadpit. I'm just strolling down memory lane after hearing some sad news from Wes on facebook. Long live DP.
