Roxanne and Planes, Trains and Automobiles, a 1987 Steve Martin double feature. Hadn't seen Roxanne since I was a kid, and it holds up really well. It's a more mature, easygoing sort of comedy than would fly today, and evokes a real sense of community in the little town it's set in. Steve Martin could do no wrong in the 80s and just cranked out classic after classic. Amazingly, I have two coworkers in my department who don't even like the guy.
wesley snipes (befor the IRS stuff) in passenger 57. good movie i like his pre blade trinity movies.
I enjoyed that film. But only saw it once. I saw it and Bram Stroker's Dracula at this great dollar theater over in Mobile. Unlike most dollar theaters this one was nice and clean. And looked more modern than the big more expensive theater.
I remember this movie would play on Cinemax all the time back in the day. Rewatched it recently and found it pretty enjoyable. The ending kinda drags, but all around pretty good.
I remember liking this movie a lot with the exception of the little kid, who annoyed me to no end. It seldom fails that the insertion of children into an action formula results in a substandard product. Missing in Action III is another example of that.
It's a Wonderful Life (1947). My first time seeing this. I had tears in my eyes a mere five minutes into it. Some movies are overrated, their critical stature unaccountably inflated by ulterior motives, but It's a Wonderful Life is a picture wholly deserving of its place in the canon of American cinema.
The Bishop's Wife (1947). Another movie about a Christmas angel, in this case Cary Grant, who visits frustrated bishop David Niven and wife Loretta Young to ease the stress surrounding Niven's determination to raise money for a new cathedral. It's an okay movie if you prefer your Christmas fare to be spiritually oriented or if you like any of the performers, but I didn't detect much chemistry between the stars. Also, there's a St. Bernard dog in the movie that just bothers me as something a straight-laced gentleman like David Niven probably wouldn't tolerate in his home.

bradtheman: Like all things in life, Deadpit Radio's run had to end at some point. Towards the end, Wes, Aaron, and Steve's hearts weren't in it and that it was time to move on. For what it's worth, I like to thank the threesome for inspiring me to do commentaries.

bradtheman: That and the horror genre was going down the tubes when Aaron and Wes signed off. It still is with the Child's Play remake and I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu as examples.

newt138: No mainstream horror was going down the tubes. There was plenty of good mainstream horror. But as fat fuck Wes told many people "Unless we get sent a copy for free I Aint reviewing it."
