Currently reading: The Road by Cormac McCarthy - The most boring book I've read in years. Take out the phrases, "I'm sorry", "I know", "It's ok", and "It's alright" and you've taken away at least a quarter of the book. How this shit won the Pulitzer is beyond me. The apocalypitic 'road' story was done several times and much better by several writers in the 80s.
My feelings exactly.
On the other hand, it's what got me writing again. Because if that load of crap and horrid format could garner adulation, then my perception toward standards of quality must be way higher than what I gave society credit for possessing.
It took away my fear of sucking. Even if I screw up, I KNOW it will still be better. -----------------------------------
I'm thumbing through a Linux manual right now.
Perhaps I should put on some Nerdcore to set the mood, light a few LED candles, and just get my geek on hard and nasty with a bottle of Bawls.

Rant is one that I think need to be read more than once. There's so much shit going on and so much that's not explained until later, that a second reading would provide a much clearer perspective. My favorite Palahniuk work has been Haunted.

I've read Rant 2 or 3 times. I just didn't dig it as much as his other stuff. I've actually read all of his books multiple times. I'm one of those people who can read a book 10 times. A lot of people think re-reading a book is strange but we watch movies over and over again, so why not do it with books? Plus, I always pick up on things I may have missed the first time around or, depending on where you are in your life, the book could take on an entirely different meaning.

Just finished reading this book about one man's quest to watch a bad movie every day for a year in an effort to find the shittiest movie of all time. As you might imagine, some of the movies he discusses are horror.
This is a great book, although the sheer volume of movies he discusses makes it a little overwhelming. Fortunately the movies are grouped by topic into 5-6 page sections...great book to keep in the bathroom and read a section at a time when nature calls.
Did he find a "worst movie"? Yes, he did (and no, it isn't Troll 2, although that movie is covered). I won't give it away here, but PM me if you would like a list of his five worst.
The highest compliment you can give a book like this is that it prompts you to go and check a few of the films out for yourself. And hey, who on this board doesn't enjoy crappy movies to some extent?
I've never liked reading while taking a dump. If my ass were a type of warfare it would be a blitzkrieg. I like to bomb out a few poop balls with authority, wash up with some cottonelle wet ones, wash my hands, and get the hell out of there.
I read my latest In-Fisherman magazine and am patiently awaiting the next one to arrive in the mail.

I've never really been able to comprehend the idea of someone actually being able to sit and read for any length of time while taking a dump. I mean, how long can it really take? I think some people need more fiber in their diet.

bradtheman: Like all things in life, Deadpit Radio's run had to end at some point. Towards the end, Wes, Aaron, and Steve's hearts weren't in it and that it was time to move on. For what it's worth, I like to thank the threesome for inspiring me to do commentaries.

bradtheman: That and the horror genre was going down the tubes when Aaron and Wes signed off. It still is with the Child's Play remake and I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu as examples.

newt138: No mainstream horror was going down the tubes. There was plenty of good mainstream horror. But as fat fuck Wes told many people "Unless we get sent a copy for free I Aint reviewing it."
